Job Title Coordinator, Education Location All Sites London, ON, CA N6A 4G5 Requisition # 34697 Category Management Job Type Regular FT Position Descriptor Posting Number: 34697 Post: May 8, 2012 Remove: May 22, 2012 Management Coordinator, Education – Full Time Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program (SWORBHP) Patient Centred Care The Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program is the preeminent base hospital program in Canada. The program provides certification, continuing medication education, quality assurance and medical direction to over 1200 paramedics employed by 11 EMS agencies. We are improving health care through technological innovation, robust evidence and best practice based processes in education, professional standards, performance improvement and medical direction. Reporting to the Manager, Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital (SWORBHP), the Coordinator, Education provides clinical expertise, leadership and coordination for all clinical education and certification activities for the SWORBHP. This includes the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of education / certification initiatives and Paramedic Educators to facilitate the theoretical and clinical competence of approximately 1200 Primary Care and over 100 Advanced Care Paramedics regionally. The educational programming includes certification, continued medical education (CME), remedial and recertification, in-class and on-line, to expand the knowledge and skills of paramedics in achieving competencies and obtaining professional development. The Coordinator is accountable to provide leadership in the development and maintenance of regional partnerships and promoting revenue generation related to educational activities as well as maintenance of program accreditation. Critical Management Competencies: • Impact and Influence • Holding Self & Others Accountable • Results Orientation Other Management Competencies: • Developing Others • Strategic Orientation • Interpersonal Sensitivity • Leadership Presence • Business Acumen • Service, Quality & Safety Orientation • Visionary Leadership Job Qualifications • Successful completion of a recognized Baccalaureate Degree Program in Science or Education or in a relevant related field or equivalent acceptable to the Hospital (e.g. consideration given to working toward a degree combined with additional directly related experience) • Masters of Education Degree and related post-graduate education preferred • Registration with the Ministry of Health as a Primary or Advanced Care Paramedic preferred; consideration given to applicants with a Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse with extensive ICU or ER experience • Minimum three (3) years expertise in Education, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital or University • Minimum two (2) years experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles • Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications such as word processing, spreadsheet applications, presentations, etc. • Demonstrated behaviours supporting LHSC’s Core Values of Respect, Trust and Collaboration • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC • Demonstrated commitment to the development of professional practice, mentorship, life-long learning and excellence in patient care • Demonstrated experience with the principles and practice of Shared Leadership • Knowledge of current trends and legislation pertaining to the delivery of pre-hospital care and emergency health services • Must be available for out of town travel • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of labour relations and hospital operations preferred • Understanding of and experience with workload measurement, staffing/scheduling and budgeting an asset • A track record of successful transition/change management • Strong participatory leadership, team building and highly developed organizational skills • Excellent and effective abilities in both oral and written communication skills, including strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills • Highly developed critical thinking skills with the ability to conceptualize and analyze problems • Excellent problem solving, decision-making, planning and evaluation skills • Recognition and understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and how EI is applied in practical situations with the ability to assess emotional factors • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration in an interdisciplinary team environment • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diversity, appreciating that different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics can bring richness to the challenge at hand • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis We foster a culture of patient and staff safety whereby all employees are guided by LHSC\'s Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct.
