SUPERVISOR, FLEET & SUPPORT SERVICES Region of Waterloo - Maple Grove, NB See original job posting at Region of Waterloo » Coordinates and controls Emergency Medical Services (EMS) fleet, facility, and supply assets to oversee the maintenance, sanitizing, and stocking of all EMS vehicles, equipment, and supplies. Ensures the availability of equipment and supplies required for Paramedic staff to provide patient care. Ensures legislated activities are documented. Oversees provision of logistic support to improve related processes and procedures and maximize resource availability. Oversees administrative support to the Division. Monitors and administers budgets. Coordinates regular scheduled preventive maintenance, service, and repairs with Fleet Services staff. Ensures vehicle servicing, repairs, documentation, and files are maintained in accordance with legislation. Ensures staff maintain supply inventory at appropriate levels, coordinating with Stores staff to replenish stock. Sets and manages inventory levels and signs off on purchase orders for same. Coordinates with Purchasing staff and Grand River Hospital Pharmacy to obtain medication for use on ambulances. Oversees medication/supply management system to maintain stock levels, manage inventory, maintain documentation, and provide technical support and troubleshooting to EMS staff. Oversees issuing of uniforms, and processes uniform requests. Oversees petty cash and cheque requisitions for the Division. Monitors year-to-date expenses and divisional budget status, and tracks and reports on trends for budget lines. Monitors the condition of stations and headquarters, generates and submits Facilities requests, and recommends capital improvements to Director, EMS. Liaises with Facilities staff regarding janitorial, snow plowing, and lawn maintenance contracts and recommends amendments to same. Oversees Information Assistant and casual administrative support staff to ensure support for information and records management, administration, and reception to the Division. Develops, revises, and implements operational and maintenance procedures, and standards to comply with legislative requirements. Assists management to develop operating policies, emergency procedures, long range plans, budgets, and resource requirements. Provides leadership on special projects by assembling contracts for Directors approval and arranging for service provision with staff. Works with Deputy Chief to order new equipment and supplies. Arranges laundry service provision. Coordinates with Information Technology Services (ITS) staff regarding troubleshooting and support for Division; system and application implementation and improvement; equipment and infrastructure purchasing and support. Directly supervises 9 Fleet Support staff, an Information Assistant, and casual administrative support staff. Works at a computer and performs desk work approximately 50% of the time, requiring mental and visual concentration, manual dexterity, and prolonged sitting. Discusses issues with staff, management, and other contacts approximately 20% of the time. Travels approximately 15% of the time, within and outside of Region, to inspect ambulance stations, travel to hospitals, meet with other services, and review products. Performs work in a vehicle bay approximately 10% of the time to check work, investigate issues, and perform audits. Remainder of time is spent performing related tasks. Occasionally lifts boxes of uniforms and supplies, and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Work is subject to extra hours and emergency call-in to meet deadlines and respond to emergency situations. Knowledge of equipment and supply management; program administration and delivery; policies, standards, and procedures for cleaning and maintaining EMS vehicles and equipment; and EMS supply and equipment needs, normally acquired through a diploma in a related field (e.g., finance, supply management, medical inventory), plus progressively responsible experience in a related environment. Human relations, communication, and leadership skills in order to supervise, motivate, and support staff in achieving objectives; deal with related issues; and present or explain complex issues to individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge. Knowledge of the Ambulance Act and its associated Regulations and Standards, PHIPA, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other related legislation. Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office applications, a time and attendance management system, and a medication and supply management system. Ability to generate summary reports for use by EMS management, staff, and MOHLTC. Valid Class \"G\" drivers licence and acceptable driving record to operate Regional vehicles and ability to travel to various locations within and outside of Region.
